The microphone does not start
Check the browser’s microphone permission and the device input you selected.
Allow the intended microphone for TopSchool if appropriate, then try again or type the request.

Use voice input in Chat
The microphone in Chat turns speech into message text. It is useful when you would rather speak a brief than type it. You can review and edit the words before sending; this is not a two-way voice conversation.
Here’s how
Check your microphone
Open Chat and make sure your device has the microphone you want to use. Choose a place where you can speak without including other people’s conversations or sensitive information.
Start dictation
Select the microphone control near the composer. If the browser asks for microphone access, allow it for TopSchool only if you want to use voice input. A blocked permission prevents recording; typing remains available.
Speak your request and stop
Describe the task, audience and format in a few clear sentences. Select the stop control when you have finished. Wait while the recording is processed and the words appear in the composer.
Review and edit the text
Check names, subject terms, numbers and punctuation. Correct anything that was misheard and remove information you did not mean to include. Add a missing constraint, such as lesson length, by typing if that is easier.
Send when the message is ready
Check the selected context and read the final message, then select Send. Review the response in the same way you would for a typed request.
Check your result
Your spoken brief has become a message you have checked and chosen to send.
If something doesn’t look right
Words were transcribed incorrectly
Check specialist vocabulary, numbers and background noise.
Edit the text before sending. For a short correction, typing may be quicker than recording the whole message again.
