Connect and use Google Drive

Connect the intended Google account, import useful files and check the results in your library.

Use the right Google account

Choose an account and files you are authorised to use for your school. Follow any school requirements shown during Google authorisation.

Here’s how

  1. Open Google Drive

Open the Google Drive area within Resources & Uploads. Have the intended Google account ready, with access to the files you need. Choose Connect Google Drive. If a previous connection has expired, the action is Reconnect.

  2. Authorise the intended account

Complete the Google sign-in and consent flow, checking the account before granting access. When you return, read Connected account to confirm the email is the one you intended. If it is wrong, disconnect before connecting a different account.

  3. Choose files to import

Browse My Drive and open the relevant folder. Search files in this folder to narrow the list. Select the files or folders you need, checking any conversion or file-owner restriction shown beside them. Choose Import.

  4. Read the import result

Wait for the import to finish. The result may include imported, already-present or failed items. Open My Library and check the imported material before relying on it for a lesson. A successful connection alone does not mean a file has been imported.

  5. Refresh imported material

Use Resync when you want TopSchool to check imported Drive material for updates. Read the result: items can be updated, unchanged or failed. Check the relevant file afterwards. Do not assume a file is continuously updated simply because Drive is connected.

  6. Disconnect when needed

Choose Disconnect beside the connected account and read the confirmation. The dialog explains that you will need to reconnect to browse or import again and that already imported library files stay in TopSchool. Disconnecting is not a way to delete those imported files.

Check your result

You have connected the correct account and checked the imported files you want to use.

If something doesn’t look right

A file is restricted

Check the file-owner restriction shown in Drive.

Ask the owner for the appropriate access or use an authorised alternative. Reconnecting does not override the owner’s restrictions.

Only some files imported

Check the completed and failed counts, then inspect your library.

Resolve the failed items before trying them again. Avoid treating a partial result as a complete import.
