Review and close student help requests

Read a student’s request and its activity context, acknowledge it, and close it after the appropriate follow-up.

Before you start

Help-request features must be available for your account and class.

Here’s how

  1. Find the class inbox

Open the class student area and look for open help requests. The inbox can include requests associated with assignments and study rooms when those learning features are enabled for your account and class.

  2. Open the student’s overview

Select the request’s student link. Check the student and read the request in the overview’s recent activity.

  3. Review the learning context

If a request links to an available assignment or study room, follow it when that helps you understand where the student needs support. If the linked area is unavailable, use the missing-feature guide or contact support. A request is a prompt to investigate, not an automatic judgement about the student’s progress.

  4. Acknowledge and follow up

Use the acknowledgement action to mark an open request as seen. Follow up with the student through your usual teaching arrangements; acknowledging the request does not itself send a written reply.

  5. Close the request

Once the follow-up is complete, use the close action on the acknowledged request. Check that its status has changed. Do not close a request simply to clear the inbox while the student still needs help.

Check your result

The request has the appropriate open, acknowledged or closed status after your follow-up.

If something doesn’t look right
