Archive and restore a class

Archive a class to move it out of the active class list. Use the archived-classes view to find it again and restore it when needed.

Before you start

You need permission to archive the class. Check ongoing teaching activity before changing its status.

Here’s how

  1. Check the class before archiving

Confirm the class name and academic year. Coordinate with colleagues if they still teach the class, and check for learning activities that are still in use. Archiving is not a substitute for reviewing active assignments.

  2. Archive the class

Open the class menu or details and choose Archive. Follow the confirmation presented, then wait for the class list to update.

  3. Find archived classes

Open the archived-classes control above the class list. Search for the class if needed. This view keeps archived classes separate from the active list.

  4. Restore the intended class

Select the class in the archived list and choose the restore action. If selection or restoration is unavailable, your account may not have permission to change that class.

  5. Check the restored class

Return to the active list and open the restored class. Check its details and roster. Review any assignments separately before asking students to continue work.

Check your result

The class is in the active or archived list you intended, and you have checked its state after the change.

If something doesn’t look right

Restore is unavailable

Check whether you can select the class in the archived list.

Ask the class lead or school administrator to review your permissions.
