Check whether your request names an age or level, topic and output format.
Ask for one small result, such as three questions, before expanding the task.

Create your first teaching resource
Start with one small resource: three questions to introduce a lesson. Use Chat to describe what you need, review the answer and keep the work you want to use. You do not need to create a class or add student records first.
Here’s how
Sign in and open Chat
Use the TopSchool sign-in address supplied by your school. Open New Chat from the navigation. If an introduction appears, you can follow its guidance or choose the option to explore on your own.
Give PLAI a clear first request
Try: “Create a short lesson starter for learners aged 10–11 who are beginning fractions. Include three questions, one worked example and a separate answer key. Use everyday objects and clear language.” Change the age, topic and format to suit your teaching. Leave out student names and personal details.
Send and review the answer
Select Send and wait for the response to finish. Read the questions and work through each answer yourself. Check that the vocabulary, difficulty and examples fit the lesson. If PLAI gives a chat answer, you can keep using that conversation; an editable document is a separate output.
Make one useful improvement
Ask a focused follow-up, such as “Make question 3 more challenging, but keep the other questions.” Read the revised answer and check that it preserved what you wanted. For an editable resource, open the resource and make any final corrections in the editor.
Keep the version you want
For an editable resource, select Save Changes after making changes. To keep a chat response in another document, use Copy response and paste it into your usual document editor, then save that document. Saving a file copy to Resources is another option where that action appears; it is different from saving edits to the original resource.
Find your work again
Open the conversation from Saved Chats and check that it is the one you used. If you saved a document outside TopSchool, reopen that file too. Give the conversation or file a recognisable name, such as “Fractions lesson starter”, so you can return to it when planning the lesson.
Check your result
You have a reviewed lesson starter and know where to return to the conversation or saved file.
If something doesn’t look right
There is no editable document
A normal Chat response and an editable resource have different controls.
Use Copy response for the text, or open an AI tool designed to create the resource you need.
